The Jersey Association for Family Therapy (JAFT)
The objectives of the association are to benefit the public by the promotion by all available means of the study, practice, research and teaching of family and systemic therapy and to bring together people who are concerned with the care or treatment of families.
The Charity hopes to foster an awareness of systemic ideas and family therapy, acknowledging all families experience difficulties from time to time.
JAFT aims to support the practice of systemic and family therapy and to support financially through bursaries those interested in pursuing systemic ideas through training.
Finally JAFT aims to promote an awareness of family therapy, through workshops and to arrange, organise or assist in the provision of courses, conferences, debates and other meetings and gatherings.
A brief history of JAFT
JAFT was inaugurated on Tuesday 11 November 1997 by Patricia Tumelty and Jane Pointon.
JAFT has been organising a range of training; from half-day workshops to five-day training courses. JAFT became a charity in 2006 and has enabled people to train in systemic and family therapy skills with bursaries for financial support.
